How to Add Your Website To An Existing Google Analytics Account
Video Transcript
Hi, it’s Jan Kearney at My Local Business Online. I want to do a quick video to show you how to add a website to an existing Google Analytics account. So you already have a Google Analytics account and you’ve just made a new website for example and you want add Google analytics to your new website.
First of all you need to log into Google Analytics on the account that you want to use. Then click on Admin. From this drop-down here you can select create new account. We’re going to track a website. You can choose if you want to use Universal Analytics, which is still in Beta or Classic Analytics. Universal Analytics has the advanced tools for your re-marketing and tracking data, I’m going to stick with that for now and see how that goes.
Scroll down and enter the account name. And the website name. And the URL. If you are using secure servers make sure you select that. Then select the industry. I think business and industrial might be the best one for this site. Make sure you have selected your reporting time-zone because that doesn’t get changed later. And select any data that you want to share.
Once you have entered all your information you get your tracking ID and agree to the terms and conditions. That’s the code you copy and paste over or you can use a plugin if you use WordPress to automatically add your tracking ID. That’s it for now, I shall speak to you soon.
