This video link was posted on the Dream Team Skype group earlier in the week. It really made me stop and think, I hope you take some time to reflect…
Are you doing what you REALLY want to do?

What if Money Was No Object? by Jan Kearney
Nanette Levin says
Thanks for this thought-provoking video, Jan. I was fortunate to have a father instill this mindset at a young age – and I fully believe the hours you spend at work should be spent doing what you’d choose even if you weren’t being paid. That doesn’t mean that every task is a joy, but what you’re accomplishing should be. It’s so sad to see people devoting 40 or more hours a week (actually, more time seems to be spent coming up with ways not to perform fully for the work week) to something they loathe doing just to earn money to do the things they want. They’re not helping themselves – nor their employer.

I know what you mean, Nanette! I’m from a very working class background, and while my parents want me to be happy, the other side is always the question, “why don’t you get a proper job.” I know it’s concern and love, but it’s how we’re brought up. My hope is I have done enough to give my daughter the encouragement and confidence to do what she loves. Time will tell after she leaves uni!

Great video, awesome message.
I agree! Do what you LOVE to do so you can teach others to love it too. That’s exactly how I feel. I remember working a job I absolutely hated! I didn’t like getting up, that was a chore. I didn’t care if I was late getting there – maybe they would do me a favor and fire me. LOL
Truth is… when my employer went bankrupt – that’s the best day of my life. I started my own work at home business and do what I love – writing.
No regrets!
Kind regards,
– Bonnie xo

It’s brilliant you are doing what you love now, Bonnie!

Thanks for the reminder. I agree it is better love want you love then chasing the money. I was in a career as a teacher for years (daycare). and loved it till I burnt out. I did not go to activities assistant like I wanted next. I am now in a new business and chasing the money is a great temptation instead of following my heart.

Resist the urge, Mary! I know, easier said than done… Thanks for popping in and your comment 🙂

Hi,
Like the video. After 17 years of owning my own business, I am rebuilding because of the economy and changes in healthcare. While I am glad I to rebuild it is “tiring” as my goal was to sell my business in four more years. Now, that’s not going to happen. I’m glad I can change direction but honestly, it’s hard starting “over.”
If money really didn’t matter, I’d run a B&B and cook to my heart’s content.
We have always taught our son to follow his heart and he is studying Music Education in college. Many people said to us, “how could you let him go into that. He’ll never make any money and that’s the first thing they always cut in schools…” I said, “if it makes him happy and he earns his degree, it doesn’t matter. You have to be happy in what you do.”

I’m sorry that your business has been hit by the current economy. I have to ask, Colleen what’s stopping you running a B&B and cooking your heart out?
Great to hear you are encouraging your son to follow his heart 🙂
