In my previous blog post we talked about what to expect with Social Blog Blueprint by Sue and Dan Worthington. The basic course is ideal for small businesses who want to set up and start blogging on their own domain.
One you’re set up and posting your first posts, what then?
Traffic doesn’t just turn up and WordPress needs maintenance.
While the basic version of Social Blog Blueprint is ideal to get you started, there will come a time when you need to step it up.
Enter the Platinum version of Social Blog Blueprint
Social Blog Blueprint Platinum is an up-sell of the original course. Inside there is a mass of information to start making the most of your blog. Split into 8 sections (packs) the course covers everything you need to start making your social blog work for your business.
Community Building Pack (7 videos with transcripts, 6 checklists and 2 “action steps”)
The community building pack gives you tips you need to start to start building your community on the popular social platforms.
Social Power Pack (6 videos with transcripts, 1 Mind-map and 6 “action steps”)
The Social Power module builds and expands on what you learned in the original “Create Your Social Hub” module.
Oh yes, and I now have another plugin to try (you will too!) to add to my plugin-a-holic collection. It looks very nifty!
Social Traffic Pack (5 videos, 2 plugins with user manuals and 2 “action steps”)
OK Sue and Dan are officially trying to kill me. They provide 2 plugins to try out. I had to walk away for a while to resist the urge to fiddle with my site. I am a terrible plugin-a-holic and need a sort out before I add anything else on there!
The plugins will help you capture your blog visitors so you can continue to build your community.
Blog Templates Pack (1 PDF, 3 templates, 3 checklists)
There’s no video in this module, it’s short and to the point. The biggest mistake I see when business owners start their blog is they don’t know who they’re blogging for or how to create skimmable/readable posts. These templates and checklists will solve both problems.
The Content Pack (2 videos with transcripts, 1 mind-map, 1 ebook, 1 PDF and 3 “action steps”)
How many times have I heard this frustrated cry?
“But I don’t know what to blog!!”
Now you do!
Sue also shares her leverage system which gives your content extra legs and more eyes. I honestly don’t do this often enough, but even my small efforts pay off.
Monetisation Pack (4 videos with transcripts, 1 PDF and 5 “action steps”)
I work with local businesses mainly and this step is often missing. It’s incredibly frustrating and I get that it’s extra work. (No, I am not the best at it either). THIS is how you grow your business online.
Blog Maintenance Pack (2 videos with transcripts, 1 mind-map, 1 ebook, 1 checklist and 3 “action steps”)
From experience, blog maintenance is often overlooked by many and Sue makes it clear that maintenance is crucial.
WordPress needs maintenance, it really isn’t set and forget. I’ve lost count of how many manual upgrades I’ve done because people have left an install for a year (or more!) then wondered why it fell over when a plugin was added or when they do actually upgrade.
The security section is here too. As I mentioned in my part 1 review, I would like to see security right at the beginning. There are things you can do to make an install more secure without relying on plugins.
SEO Pack (2 videos with transcripts and 3 “action steps”)
The basics of SEO and site speed are covered in this module. Personally, I would have liked to see something a little more in-depth and holistic but then I am not the idea audience for this course!
Is it worth upgrading to Platinum Social Blog Blueprint?
There is a LOT of information and practical steps you can take to build up your social blog once you have the basics in place. As in the Silver Social Blog Blueprint, each lesson is to the point. Videos are under 10 minutes and you can dip in and out as needed. I really liked the mix and match of PDFs, ebooks, videos, checklists and mind-maps in the Platinum version.
I wanted the course to end with a BANG to match the how I felt about the rest of the course. The SEO section just didn’t do it for me. I am also surprised I didn’t see a couple of things in the Social Power pack that will help give your posts extra legs.
None of that distracts from the fact if you follow the steps in this course you will be well on your way to using your blog as the cornerstone of your business and driving traffic back to where it matters – your online home.
Beginners and intermediate bloggers will find Social Blog Blueprint an invaluable resource and training course.
Silver Social Blog Blueprint is great for getting your blog off the ground. To move from beginner to intermediate you really need to step it up. The Platinum Social Blog Blueprint will help you do just that. I highly recommend an upgrade.

Dropping by from Ultimate Blog Challenge. What a great overview on this program that can take your blogging to the next level. 🙂
Jan Kearney says
Thanks for popping in Brenda and good luck with the UBC 🙂

Great review, Jan. I love how in-depth it is. I’ve hard a lot of good about this product. How would I know if I needed the platinum version or just the beginner’s stuff?
Jan Kearney says
Hi Avery – If you’re already blogging but want to take it further, Platinum is the one to go for. The basic version is more about install and setting up shop. There is some info there about posting out to social networks etc but the real juicey stuff is in Platinum.

Whooo. overwhelm!
I’ know the basics. I want to learn actionable steps to go to the next level, but I think I’m not ready – I KNOW there’s too much going on elsewhere for me to actually dive in and use this.
However, you did a great job of outlining what’s in it for us.
Jan Kearney says
Thanks for popping in Jenn. The great thing about this course is it is all bite sized so you can add the steps bit by bit 🙂
