I’m jolly excited, rather chuffed and honoured to be speaking at Business Boost in Runcorn 10th April 2015.

Business Boost Runcorn Seminar and Networking Morning
Starting at 8am with a spot of breakfast and networking, April’s Business Boost Seminar morning is an ideal opportunity to mingle and network with other local businesses and learn some valuable tips to improve your social media presence. Granted, I’m biased because I am one of the speakers!
Social Media Seminars
There are two speakers in April. The sessions kick off with Jeanne Hatton from Uniti Solutions who will guide you through the maze of social media platforms and tools. You’ll learn:
- social media demographics
- understand if social media is working effectively for your business
- how to source content to share
- social media tools – what to use and when
The second session is with me, Jan Kearney. I’ll be challenging your perceptions about Google Plus with “What The Plus Can Google Do For My Business?” You’ll learn:
- What the Plus? No it’s not just another social network!
- No-one uses Google Plus, who will see my posts?!
- Get found – your Profile
- Get found – Google My Business Pages
- What the Plus? Shop front, Service or Brand Page and what’s the plussing difference
- Local? Google says Plus off! Don’t make these mistakes…
- Search + Social = The real power of Plus
- Your next steps to Plus Your Business
That’s a hell of a lot to fit in an hour – I’m working on it! I will guarantee you’ll learn something and have some great tips to implement.
The Business Boost Seminar Morning is organised by Bear Behind Events in conjunction with Halton Chamber of Commerce. Booking is essential – you can book through the Chamber by calling Nicola on 01928 516142 or online via Bear Behind Events

Hi Jan
Wish I was nearer as I would love to come along and hear your talk. Have you thought of recording it for us?
My Google is in such a mess I’ve no idea where to start even unravelling all the multiple presences that I wish weren’t there. A big delete button might be the best thing to do!
I have a client in Manchester, if I can ever persuade them they need me to make a paid visit I’ll make a detour 🙂
Errr, have you changed the parting on your hair (down to the important questions in life!!)
Have a great weekend. Joy
Jan Kearney says
Hi Joy – record it?
I did try that once. I borrowed a video camera and got a friend to sit with it. Needless to say the battery ran out after 20 minutes. So I thought well, use what we can to discover the camera didn’t record well in unnatural lighting and the sound quality had too much background noise. Not to mention my friend held the camera upside down the 20 mins we did get!
Well that was enough to confirm my “I don’t do video” feelings haha
Maybe one day I’ll record these things and it will work! technology, you have to love it 😀
As for multiple Google accounts… Oh my – Google changes things so often I can barely keep up. Pick 1 and stick with it. Unravelling things will take a while, map them out as you go.
As for the important things in life like my parting – no it’s not changed, the image is flipped 😀

Hi, Jan,
Each year, the new telephone books are published in print. Your statement about business moving to the Internet is so true. I moved to the Springs 21 years ago this month. The printed phone book was was more than 2 inches thick. This year’s version has no residential listings and is less than one inch thick. Anyone who is not working on the Internet is completely unknown!
Hope to get to your neck of the woods some day!

Jan Kearney says
Hi Mialei – our YP book is tiny again this year. No longer can I use it to reach the top shelf in my cupboard 😀
If you ever make it to this neck of the woods, be sure to pop in for a coffee 🙂 Thanks for popping in!
