Video Blogging Challenge Day 12

March 30, 2014 by Jan Kearney

Finally, an in-front of camera video for Bonnie Gean’s Video Blogging Challenge!  I had some issues with my video this last week…

Technical Difficulties

On Monday, I recorded a video very late in the day.  So late it was technically Tuesday.  It wouldn’t import into Camtasia and I thought it was just a “me moment” because I recorded when I was tired.

Wednesday, the same again.  This time a very definate error of unrecognised file format.

This video I recorded Saturday afternoon.  It seemed to import fine but then kept giving me an out of memory error message when producing.  Anyway, long story short, I finally got it produced and uploaded this evening.  24-hours late is better than never!

The more observant readers/watchers will notice the video title sequence says day 13…

You forgot to recharge your brain last night

What’s a missing day between friends?

Video Blogging Challenge Day 12

In this video I explain my technical difficulties, talk about my dog date, Muppet wrangling and my plans for the week ahead.  A video transcript is below for those who prefer to read.

Video Transcript

Hi, it’s Jan Kearney at My Local Business Online and this video is for Bonnie Gean’s Video Blogging Challenge. Now, I’m not sure what day I am up to. This is actually the 3rd video I’ve recorded this week and I am having some technical difficulties!

On Monday night, Tuesday morning – it was gone midnight, I sat down very late and did a video about emotional ripples and Facebook updates. I sat down to produce it on Tuesday and it wouldn’t import into Camtasia. I put that down to me recording it at silly o’clock in the morning.

On Wednesday, I sat down again and I talked about Twitter and a couple of Twitter tips. Once again it wouldn’t import. It said the file wasn’t recognised, so I couldn’t produce it.

This video is to see if the video producing actually works now. I’ve gone through all the settings, double checked everything is as it should be and hopefully I’ll be producing this one in a few minutes when I’ve finished this video.

Today I’ve sat down with my coffee, here it is, a little bit later than I planned to today. This morning I had a dog date with Lyndsay. She’s a lovely, lovely lady. Her ambition is to open a centre of excellence for alternative animal health. We’ve been talking on and off for a couple of months. When she comes up this way we’ve met in the dog park. She takes Burt and I bring Muppet. We have a good old natter and a bit of a brainstorm. She’s looking at starting it off online then moving into a premises. She’s got a premises in mind and it’s really, really exciting because things are starting to move forward for her.

I wasn’t expecting however, to let Muppet off the lead. Let’s be quite honest here. Muppet is a bit of a bugger. She comes back when she decides it’s time to come back and she’s getting worse. So Lyndsay was already there with Burt off the lead in the dog park section in the local park. I thought there’s plenty of dogs there, she’ll tire out easily and she’ll come back. I should have known better! Needless to say it was knee deep in some places in mud and Muppet spent a couple of hours getting as mucky as possible.

The last hour or so I have been Muppet wrangling, trying to bath her. She didn’t appreciate it! But now she’s settled down on the couch and I can sit down and record this video.

I thought I’d let you know what I am up to. Thursday I did my coaching course and next Thursday is the last day. I’ll have my certificate for Executive Business Coaching. It’s been a fabulous time at the International Coaching Academy again. Once again pushing me way out of my comfort zone and meeting some very inspirational people as well. So next Thursday I’ll show you my certificate, even if they’re making us start at 7.30 in the morning. That will be fun… That’s all I am going to say about that.

Also next week, I’m meeting with 2 fabulous ladies, local business ladies who I have worked with before, Kelly and Sharon. We’re looking at teaming up together and doing some coaching and coaching courses aimed specifically at women, business women particularly. I really can’t wait to sit down with them and start thrashing it out. That’s going to be on Tuesday. A very, very busy week ahead again.

This weekend I am going to be catching up on some things I need to finish off. Enjoy your weekend, I hope the sun is shining for you. The sun is actually out here in sunny Widnes. I’ll speak to you soon.

Over to you…

What are your plans for the week ahead?

It looks like you sorted out your video difficulties. I hate when that happens, especially when you cannot figure out what is causing the problem, but it’s nice when they work out by themselves! 🙂

Jan, good for you as you kept working through your technical difficulties. Hopefully, you have learned what caused the problem so that you could continue on.

A combination of recording too big files and aging laptop 🙂 I live and learn Edie!
