You’ve set up your Google local business listing and have activated your pin. What now?
It’s easy to sit back and and trust to luck that your local business will reach the top seven and stay there. But as competition heats up and more businesses in your area take advantage of the free listing, you have to stay ahead of the game!
To get the most from your Google Places listing – keep it updated!
- Complete as much of the listing as possible. Take pictures, record videos and upload them. Your videos do not have to be professionally directed adverts. If you have a video camera, record yourself talking about the benefits of your products, services or shop etc. If you don’t, take some photos and do a slide show presentation. The more information you can add to your local listing, the better it will perform for you.
- Get listed on other online business directories. Comments from other online local business listings will show in your Google Places listing.
- Encourage your current customers and clients to add their comments to your Places page. Not only will it have a positive effect on your local business listing, but also acts as social proof and recommendations for others who see them.
There are three tips that you can use right now to stay ahead of the competition. Google Places is not “set and forget”. Now anyone can suggest changes to your Google local business listing, it is worthwhile logging in to your Places listing current. Your future clients are looking for you there.
