Why Join a Blog Challenge?

For me, it’s about focus and “me” time. I do prefer to help other people rather than concentrate on my own thing. Because I enjoy that side of what I do so much, it’s easy for me to concentrate all my efforts there. And so, my blog gets neglected – which is not in my best interests.

Why should you join this blog challenge?

Quite simply because it will kick-start you into action and guide you through the process of blogging regularly. You’ll get ideas daily in your mailbox and the opportunity to promote your blog post on Facebook and Twitter to help you along.

As part of the challenge, you’ll comment on other peoples posts that interest you.  It will not only widen your reach, make new contacts but also leave links back to your website.

Why blog at all?

If you have decided to go down the online promotion road for your business, your website is your hub. All roads lead back here (or they should do!)

I see so many small businesses active on social media, particularly Twitter and Facebook, yet they don’t have a blog. After a couple of hours, updates there are lost in the general noise online. You may find your social profiles searching specifically for your business name.

The questions you answer on your blog, the problems you solve all sit here and can be found again and again. Often it’s these posts that get found in search before your main website by people who don’t know your business name. Your blog posts can also be shared on your social feeds too.

If you look at why I first started My Local Business Online, it all came back to search. I was looking for computer deals in Widnes (and found nothing!) Later, I mentioned my daughter’s quest for hair extensions in Widnes (again, we found nothing local).

Every business, local or not has questions. These are ideal blog posts and a great place to start. I bet with a bit of thought you can write down 31 questions you are asked about your products or services.

Great advice and guidance here from someone who’s done it before and understands it and I agree with all that Jan says. It was through this challenge in April that Jan and I met so go for it. I will not be joining in this time, limited time and away etc but I will come back again at another time in the year. It’s a great experience.
