This Week in Google – 15th April 2012

April 15, 2012 by Jan Kearney

Isn’t it lovely and quiet? Google have given us some breathing space. Time to reflect on the turmoil of search the last few weeks!

Instead, the focus is on a beautiful Google as Google+ is redesigned to look suspiciously like a Facebook timeline.

A Simpler, More Beautiful Google

170 million users have upgraded to Google+ and yet the social aspect really doesn’t matter. It’s a way of Google pulling their services into one place – and don’t forget they know who you’re connected to and what you’re up to if you use any Google product. You’ll eventually feel the effects of G+ whether you want to or not…

So Google’s new look appears very familiar. The top image is pretty nifty though, they can all be separate. A good opportunity for the more creative people to show off their skills.

Have you checked it out yet?  Add me to your circles 🙂

Google Currents now available in the UK

Currents is a mobile app that pulls in magazines from your favourite publishers and displays them in a magazine format. You do have a blog don’t you?

Google Currents

Want to publish on Google Currents? Open up Google Chrome and pop over to their producer page.  You can add your blog, YouTube channel and other RSS feeds.

For those people who like doing things on a phone, the app is available on iOS and Android and you can get it over at Google Play.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on G+ and Currents – pop them in the comments below.
